Shada. Dobrodružství čtvrtého Doktora, které se nikdy nedostalo na televizní obrazovku. Scénář k němu však v roce 1979 psal Douglas Adams a Gareth Roberts nyní původní text dotvořil do podoby příběhu plného zvratů, zmatků a časoprostorových paradoxů. Doktor se společnicí Romanou obdrží naléhavou žádost o pomoc od svého dávného přítele profesora Chronotise z Cambridge. Když se ale Doktorova TARDIS roku 1979 zhmotní v knihami přeplněné univerzitní pracovně roztržitého starého profesora, který o žádné zprávě nic neví, zdá se, že Doktora s Romanou nečeká nic než projížďky po řece a spousty šálků čaje. To by ovšem nesměli zaslechnout jakési mrazivě nelidské úpění přicházející zdánlivě odnikud. Navíc profesora tíží jedna záhadná ztracená kniha…
Než se Doktor naděje, pronásleduje ho létající koule schopná vysávat myšlenky, která patří Skagrovi, šílenému zločinci, jehož dokonale promyšlený plán na ovládnutí vesmíru může zhatit jen Doktorova chaotická improvizace, při které mu zdatně asistují nejen "humanoidi" Chris a Clare, ale i mobilní počítač K-9. Otázku, kdo je Skagra, brzy doplní ještě znepokojivější otázka: kdo je ve skutečnosti profesor Chronotis? A bude ve vesmíru dál platit druhý termodynamický zákon? A kdo nebo co je Shada?

Douglase Adamse (1952-2001) všichni dobře známe jako autora nesmrtelné klasiky Stopařův průvodce Galaxií. Díky němu si hlídáme, kde máme ručník, vogonské poezii se vyhýbáme jako čert kříži a v každém případě se snažíme NEPROPADAT PANICE. Málokdo však ví, že Douglas Adams napsal také scénáře ke třem dílům stejně kultovního britského televizního seriálu Doctor Who (Pán času). Právě díl nazvaný Shada, jehož románovou verzi vám nyní přinášíme, nebyl nikdy dokončen ani vysílán, fanoušci Douglase Adamse i Doktora cestujícího vesmírem se tedy mohou těšit na zbrusu nové dobrodružství.
Gareth Roberts (*1968) je britský televizní scenárista a spisovatel, který se proslavil zejména jako dlouholetý autor knižní série příběhů na motivy seriálu BBC Doctor Who (Pán času).
