Autobiografická vypravěčka Faye se ve druhém díle románové trilogie Obrys ocitá v Londýně, kde rekonstruuje vybydlený byt, vyjednává se záštiplnými sousedy, učí tvůrčí psaní a přitom tak jako v prvním díle mluví s rozličnými postavami. Kadeřník jí líčí soužití s dospívajícím synovcem, zedník vypráví o skleněném domě, který si postavil doma v Polsku, student o výchově perských chrtů. Leccos vychází najevo i o Faye, byť k nám informace o ní pronikají spíše mezerami mezi cizími příběhy.
Inovativní a formálně vybroušený způsob vyprávění, který britsko-kanadská spisovatelka Rachel Cusk v trilogii Obrys vytvořila, neztrácí ani v druhém díle nazvaném Tranzit na působivosti.
